Don Deacy

Don has been actively involved in energy related therapies and practices since 1992. In that time Don has developed a unique and practical approach to healing which is encompassed in the philosophy of Aceso. The philosophy of Aceso can be simply encapsulated in three sentences.

1. Listen to the patient and their body.
2. Do what is needed to heal the patient as quickly and     effectively as possible.
3. Design a treatment plan that meets the needs of the     individual.

Don is a member of the Acupuncture Society and the European Register of Bowen Therapists.

Through his study of the Japanese martial art of Aikido Don was introduced to the concept of Ki or Qi (pronounced Chi) as it is more commonly know in the western world. Don quickly understood and accepted that Qi is the subtle energy that directly affects the health and wellbeing of all living things. Fascinated by his new understanding and with a strong desire to learn as much as he could about this ancient truth Don expanded his study of Aikido to include studying the Japanese healing systems of Kiatsu, Shiatsu and Reiki.

Following a potentially life threatening illness in 2001 Don decided to expand his studies of Qi to include Traditional Chinese Medicine and successfully completed a diploma in Chinese Acupuncture and Herbs. Prior to the diploma Don had been aware of the power of Qi and the meridian system (channels that the energy runs through in the body). However, now that he had been exposed to the potency of using acupuncture points and Chinese herbs Don felt frustrated by the fact that many people he knew he could help would not submit to the use of needles. Don realised that no matter how good his levels of persuasion was and how painless his needle technique was he needed to find additional means for using the acupuncture points without the use of needles.

His desire to find needle free alternatives for using acupuncture points led Don to build on his knowledge of Acupressure and Indian Head Massage to studying and forming a deep appreciation of Bowen Therapy from Australia and Kinesiology from the USA. Whilst he still believes that acupuncture is the most effective healing system ever devised, Don has now come to appreciate the power and effectiveness of other modalities and will use them wherever possible as a very effective alternative to needles.

Don is currently studying a new and very exciting therapy from Australia called Emmett Therapy and to widen his perspective on the use of needles is undertaking a course in the Manaka Japanese Acupuncture system.
